Denmark's digital civil society is made up of more than 48,000 Facebook groups for advice, knowledge sharing, social support, practical help, venting, bragging, activism, coordination, mobilisation and debate. 56% of Danes are active in a Facebook group every week or more often. But the platforms our civil society relies on as infrastructure prioritise retention and time spent over quality, and they have rolled back fact-checking, moderation and inclusion efforts. 42% of citizens would like to switch to European alternatives.
